Entente cordiale thriving

More than 40 visitors from Pornic south of Brittany, have returned to the picturesque port after another successful stay in Scarborough.

The latest twinning visit included a dinner held at Scarborough Rugby Club, sponsored by Scalby and Newby Parish Council, which set up the partnership in 1989. The Pornicais ran a stall at Scalby Fair were entertained by pupils of St Peter’s School, Northstead as part of the visit.

They stayed with host families and enjoying events organised by Scalby and Newby Town Twinning Association, including dinners, tours, walks and a picnic for 80 people at Wrench Green, courtesy of Mr and Mrs Francis. “The event was a great success,” said David Coates, chairman. “We would particularly like to thank the pupils of St Peter’s for their tremendous efforts.” The group is looking for new members – log on to www.scalbyandnewby.com/
