Girls, the search is on for Scarborough’s next female ambassador – do you think you have what it takes to represent the town?
The Scarborough News has teamed up with the organisers of the Miss Scarborough and District 2013 competition, and now we’re looking for a worthy young woman to take the title.
Diane Yalezo, who is this year regional organiser of both the Miss Scarborough and Miss York contests, said: “This is the third year I have had the pleasure of organising the competition which has gone from strength to strength.
“Today’s competition is designed to find a young woman who is intelligent, talented, charismatic, beautiful inside and out, and who will make a good role model and representative for Scarborough and District at the Miss England Grand Final, to bring the crown and title home with her.”
She added: “Were not looking for a stereotype, the competition is open to girls from all walks of life.
“So mums, grandmas, boyfriends, if you know somebody who you think could be the next Miss Scarborough & District 2013 then the chances are we will think that too.”
Girls can enter now for the first stage auditions, scheduled for mid-April.
Successful applicants will go on to the glamorous regional final, due to be held towards the end of the month, where a new winner will be crowned.
She will gain automatic entry to the prestigious Miss England final on June 15 in Torquay, and will represent Scarborough at functions during the year.
Entrants must be aged between 17-24 as of June 15, 2013 and must have a YO postcode. They must be unmarried and have no children.
