RUNNERS keen to take part in the BUPA Great North Run can grab a place from the RNLI.
The charity still has a few places available for the event on Sunday September 18 and anyone who registers before 6pm on Wednesday will not have to pay the usual £40 entry fee. In return, the charity asks its runners to raise at least £300.
Last year, RNLI runners in the event raised an amazing £120,000 for the charity and 430 people have already agreed to take part in the 2011 Great North Run on behalf of the charity, said Lisa Connor, RNLI events manager, North.
She added: ‘It’s unusual that we still have places available as the Great North Run is one of the most popular running events in the world and we usually have to turn people away.
“So this is the ideal opportunity for anyone who has wanted to do the Great North Run for some time but has never been able to get a place.”
