SCARBOROUGH-BASED charity Ellie’s Fund is holding a number of fundraising events in the run-up to Christmas.
The fund, which was founded in memory of Ellie Othick-Bowmaker, pictured right, is inviting people to “Light a Christmas Candle” for a loved one.
Candles will be lit during a service at St Mary’s Church, Cloughton, on Saturday from 6.30pm.
A minimum donation of 50p is suggested to cover costs.
The last date for dedications is tomorrow. Messages will be displayed on the altar at St Mary’s during the service and will remain in the church until New Year.
To dedicate a candle please email a short dedication (up to 30 words) to heather@ elliesfund.com or go to www.elliesfund.com/shop.php and leave your dedication as you check out.
Payments can be sent to Ellie’s Fund Brain Tumour Trust, PO Box 473, Scarborough, YO11 9DQ.
In addition, Scalby Christmas Fair on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm will be raising money for Ellie’s Fund.
The fair is being hosted by Vicky and Dave Wilkinson at the Nags Head, Scalby, in association with Scalby Fair Committee.
It will feature carol singers, gift stalls, Fairtrade goods, mulled wine, festive food, a church stall and wreaths and trees.
There will also be a cookery demonstration from Dan Hargreaves, head chef at the Stephen Joseph Theatre restaurant.
Santa will also make an appearance on his sleigh.
