Festive flowers set to raise funds for Marie Curie charity

A festive floral fundraiser is being held once again as Irton Garden Centre hosts the annual Flowers for Christmas event.

The local Scarborough Fundraising Group for Marie Curie Cancer Care says it is delighted to be organising the popular event for 2012.

It will be the first time the new new owners at Irton Garden Centre will be hosting the event, which this being held on the evening of Wednesday December 5 at 7pm.

During the evening Danielle Taylor, in house Florist at the garden centre, will be demonstrating a colourful selection of arrangements for the festive season.

Local community fundraiser for Marie Curie, Michael Streets, said “This is a lovely evening to come along with friends to enjoy seeing some beautiful and original Christmas arrangements being made which you can then try out at home to impress your guests and family.

“We are extremely grateful to the management of Irton Garden Centre for their support.

“All proceeds will go towards the provision of home Marie Curie nursing to the terminally ill within the local area.”

Tickets to the Flowers for Christmas event are £3 each and will include tea or coffee and a mince pie. They are available by telephoning fundraising group member Mary on (01723) 360292 or from Irton Garden Centre.
