Final call for town funding programme

THE clock is ticking for community groups in Scarborough to take advantage of a funding lifeline.

Scarborough Council’s Voice Your Choice scheme is giving away £13,390 to worthy causes in the town.

However, the deadline for applications closes tomorrow.

The money is only open for groups in the town’s Central urban area which includes Castle ward, Central, Ramshill, Falsgrave Park, Woodlands, North Bay, Northstead, Weaponess and Stepney.

Projects receiving the most votes will receive the funding and applications are welcomed for art, sport and cultural activities.

The maximum grant available is £1,000, with the minimum amount standing at £150.

Applications must be made on behalf of a properly constituted body and are welcome from public, voluntary and community organisations.

However, the fund cannot be used as a substitute for mainstream funding.

Applications are limited to one per organisation and any groups who received funding from the Central Urban Area Committee in May this year are not allowed to apply.

Projects must start within six months of funding being agreed and completed within 12 months.

Residents will be able to vote for their favourite cause in December.
