A Scarborough lady celebrated her 100th birthday in style surrounded by her friends and family.
Elizabeth Doreen Coupland (pictured, centre) was treated to a birthday party at Scarborough Rugby Club, which was attended by five generations of the family.
Around 70 people came to enjoy the celebration from far and wide, with relatives travelling from Lockerbie, Billingham and Manchester.
The guests enjoyed a sit-down meal and then a disco afterwards.
Elizabeth’s son Brian Coupland said: “It was cracking and Mum loved it. She really enjoyed her day - she was the last away!”
He added that his mum walks with a frame and is full of energy.
The family are from Middlesbrough originally, with Elizabeth and her husband Harold coming to live in Sawdon in 1949.
Mr Coupland had Coupland and Wilson upholsterers in the Market Hall. Brian added that Steve Mainprize was his father’s apprentice and he is still upholstering in town.
Elizabeth and Harold, who passed away two years ago, were Britain’s longest married couple when they celebrated their 78th anniversary three years ago.
