Flooding is still causing some problems in Scarborough - but Pickering is bearing the brunt of the bad weather.

Motorists have told the Scarborough News that Scalby Road is now open, after it was closed yesterday between Stepney Road and Lady Edith’s Drive.

However Columbus Ravine - between Peasholm Road and Peasholm Gap - is still closed to traffic.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue says it dealt with 30 flood-related incidents yesterday.

People are being asked to take care if driving through flood water and to take notice of closure signs.

Showers are expected in Scarborough today, but the Met Office is not currently forecasting any more heavy rain.

However, Pickering is on flood watch with the beck currently at 1.05m – typical levels ranging between 0.02m and 1m.

The highest river level recorded at this location was 1.98m on June 26, 2007.
