THE Belgians may no longer be coming, but one of the most popular game shows of all time is on its way back.

It’s a Knockout is making a return, not to our screens however, but to the grounds of Scarborough Rugby Club, and it’s all in the name of charity.

Saint Catherine’s Hospice, which is celebrating its 25th year of hospice care, is again looking for teams of eight to 10 people to partake in some inflatable fun to help raise funds for the charity.

The day will consist of a series of games and events that will undoubtedly leave the contestants needing a towel to dry off.

The hospice is asking all the teams to target £500 in sponsorship in order to take part.

It costs £100 to register a team, and the hospice will happily supply any additional fund-raising items, such as collection boxes, that may be needed. The registration fee also covers the cost of team T-shirts.

The event takes place on July 3, and fundraiser Louise Leah said she was looking forward to what is always a big event for the charity.

She said: “It’s been a couple of years since we last staged the competition, and there’s been a lot of demand for us to bring it back.

“Everyone is really looking forward to taking part and embracing the spirit of the day.

“Not only is it fabulous fun to take part in, it is also going to be a great day out for spectators and families too.”

It’s a Knockout was a runaway TV success in the 1970s and 80s and was watched by millions of viewers. It was so successful that a special episode featured members of the royal family as team captains.

The event promises to be a fantastic team builder as well as a fantastic family day out.

As well as the games, there will be stalls, food, rides and children’s entertainment. There is even a joker prize at stake for the team with the best mascot.

Like many charities, fundraising events like these are essential in order for the charity to continue its service to those who need it the most.

The last time the hospice staged the event, 18 teams participated, and they are hoping to smash that number this year. And while there are two events staged throughout the day, places are still on a strictly first come first served basis.
