ST JOHN Ambulance is urging everyone in Scarborough to download a free pocket first aid guide before going on holiday this year.
Statistics show nearly 40,000 British people are likely to suffer an accident or injury in a foreign country this year.
Travellers can learn basic techniques including how to offer cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, what to do if someone is bleeding heavily, how to spot if someone is having a heart attack or stroke, how to treat burns and how to cope with fractures.
Richard Haynes, Executive Director for St John Ambulance in North Yorkshire and Teesside, said: “By requesting our pocket guide online and taking it with you on holiday, you could still be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”
To obtain a copy go to www.sja.org.uk/holiday and fill in the details.
