PIZZA, pasta and opera were on the menu at an Italian-themed evening at a Scarborough nursing home.

The event at Queen Margaret’s Nursing Home in Filey Road featured a number of themed activities including a quiz, a raffle and an Italian meal.

Staff also organised a “stack your own leaning tower of Pisa” contest using different items, such as yoghurt pots, cans and loo rolls.

Residents enjoyed opera music while tucking into a starter of minestrone soup, a main course of either lasagne, tagliatelle, ravioli or pizza, served with garlic bread and salad.

They also enjoyed a glass of sherry or Italian wine with their meal.

Care assistant Rebecca Kelly, who organised the event with colleague Amanda Arrand, said: “Everyone loved it! It was good fun and something a bit different.

“We have lots of activities going on anyway but we also have regular themed events every month.”

On July 22 the home will be holding a barbecue evening with a Hawaiian theme from 4pm to 6pm.

There will also be a summer fair on August 6 from 2pm to 4pm. Everyone is welcome.
