Scarborough and Ryedale Carers Resource (SRCR) is supporting this year’s Carers Week by holding a Carers Family Fun Day on Sunday (June 5) at Snainton Village Hall in Scarborough.
Carers Week, which runs from June 6 to 12, is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This year the focus on Carer Friendly Communities are places where carers feel supported to look after their family or friends, and recognised as individuals with needs of their own.
Chief Officer Elizabeth McPherson said: “We continue to raise awareness of issues affecting carers from as young as eight to the very elderly. Carers need to be recognised for the wonderful work they do in looking after family members, friends and neighbours.”
Carers Family Fun Day , the flagship event to kick off Carers Week, runs from 11am and 3pm, with a celebration for carers of all ages. The theme of the day is Hidden Heroes.
