A BREAST cancer support group in Scarborough has been given a £140 boost thanks to an author’s efforts.
Terry Baker, of Seamer, wanted to help the group as his wife, Kath, is a member having beaten the disease herself.
Proceeds from his book, titled “A Merry Dance”, have been donated to the group which meets every month for social activities.
Mr Baker, 75, said: “I’m pleased with the amount raised - Seamer Stores did a very good job of selling the book.
“I enjoyed working on it tremendously. It’s something I’ve been contemplating doing for a while.”
The book tells Mr Baker’s life story and touches upon his wife experiences with breast cancer seven years ago.
Some copies are still available at Seamer Stores, but numbers are now limited.
Mr Baker added that the Friday Friends has been a great support to his wife and all the other members, who get together on the second Friday of every month at various venues.
He said: “It’s a way for people to get together who have had similar experiences, as they can help each other by talking about it.”
The group is always looking to welcome new members.
