MORE than £400 was raised as visitors braved the rain and attended this year’s Ayton Open Gardens.

Around £450 was collected in total at the event, which also featured stalls selling home made produce, plants, crafts, bric-a-brac and photographic goods.

The money will be shared equally between Ayton Village Hall and St John the Baptist Church.

Tricia Colling, one of the organisers of the event, said: “We all had a fantastic afternoon with a true community spirit coming through.

“We also had visitors from far afield as well as stalwart locals.

“The organisers wish to sincerely thank all our visitors, those who opened their gardens, without whom we would not have been able to hold the event, those who gave their time to host the stalls inside the Village Hall, and all those who worked very hard in the background who made the Event possible.

“We hope to see you again in 2012.”
