Gas works in the Valley Road area which have been causing traffic delays for months are finally set to come to an end.
Northern Gas Networks are expecting the work, which has involved upgrading ageing metallic gas mains, to be completed this week.
The project is part of the company’s ongoing development of infrastructure across the north of England and has involved replacing around 1.5km of existing gas main with more durable plastic pipes.
Robert Hope, construction services area manager from Northern Gas Networks, said: “We’ve been investing heavily in the underground pipe network in Valley Road, replacing old metal pipes that are prone to leaks with more durable plastic alternatives, to help to ensure the continued safe and efficient gas supply to customers for years to come.
“We know that no one likes roadworks and we want to thank everyone for their patience throughout this work and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
For more information about the work can contact the Northern Gas Networks Customer Care team on 0800 040 7766, option 7. The team is available between 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday, and 9am and 5pm on Saturday but the line is in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
