Fundraisers are gearing up for the 54th annual Scalby Walk on Easter Monday.
The traditional event, which is organised by the Scalby Fair committee, will start at the Nags Head pub, with the first walkers setting off at 10.30am.
Each year the walk raises cash for a charity or organisation, with this year’s proceeds going to Ellie’s Fund Brain Tumour Trust. Last year £2,250 was presented to Scarborough’s YMCA.
Walkers will start from the Nags Head before proceeding to the Three Jolly sailors, then the Red Lion at Cloughton and then turn back and stop at the Blacksmiths Arms, Cloughton, along the coast road to the Oak Wheel, Burniston, and back to the Nags Head.
The route is about seven miles and participants must drink a half pint of beer or a soft drink at each pub. Entry is £10 per person and children under 12 are not permitted. Fancy dress is welcome and there are trophies to be won for the more serious walkers. There will also be a raffle with a £200 first prize and an all-day barbecue at the Nags Head with live music. Entry forms are available from the pub or at www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/5378098036
