Generous donations roll in for hospice ball auction

A stunning jewellery set and use of a luxury car are among the auction items up for grabs at this year’s St Catherine’s Hospice Summer Ball.

The event, which has a theme of New York New York, will be held at Scarborough’s Spa Complex on Saturday June 8.

The jewellery, from Peter Brewer Jeweller and Goldsmith, is a handmade basket and cultured pearl necklet and earrings in 9ct gold, valued at £1,100.

David Sowden, general manager of Hatfields Land Rover Pickering, has donated the loan - for a full weekend - of a brand new Range Rover Evoque.

Also up for grabs is a Leeds United Football Club hospitality package for four people to enjoy a home game with meal, mid and post-match commentary and refreshments donated by Atlas Ward Ltd, Sherburn.

David Marshall, director of funding development, said: “We are delighted we can offer such wonderful auction items and appreciate the generosity of these businesses. We hope to raise over £15,000 and I am sure there will be some generous bids for these items.” Tickets are available at £59.50 which includes a drinks reception, four course dinner and dancing, plus a midnight breakfast. 132118a/b
