TWO open evenings at Graham/Raincliffe School proved a big hit with prospective students and their families. The events were aimed at welcoming youngsters from the last two years of primary school.

Headteacher Garry Hancock said: ‘We were delighted to have the opportunity to show our new Lower School to our community and to give families the opportunity to see the super learning environment we are creating on both sites.

“The reaction of the families was brilliant and they were impressed by all of the students and staff they met.”

He added: “The new Lower School structure provides a unique opportunity for the school to provide small-school care where we can focus on Year 7 and 8 support and learning in an environment where children can mature.

“This will be followed by a smooth transition to the Upper School in Year 9. The added bonus is the wide range of opportunities we can offer as a big school with this structure.

“We understand that choosing a secondary school is important to families and we are happy for families to visit during the school day.”
