VOLUNTEERS both new and old attended a special gathering organised by the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service.

The WRVS runs both the Scarborough Hospital shop and the trolley service thanks to an army of volunteers.

The get-together was aimed at getting together existing volunteers and anyone who would like to help out.

Christine Hepburn, assistant shop manager, said: “We wanted to thank present volunteers for all the hard work they’ve done and welcome the new people who have joined us.

“It was great to see everyone and we all enjoyed it.”

Manager Sue Clarke added: “The volunteers are a real pleasure to work with and we’re always happy to welcome new people to the team.”

Mrs Clarke added that volunteers need to be patient and have a good sense of humour and will be required to have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

Retail experience would be an advantage but is not necessary.
