YOUNGSTERS from Overdale School were treated to a VIP tour of the Town Hall after winning a poster competition.

Designs by Abigail Lock, Charlotte Evans, Chloe Buxton and Katie Newton were chosen to be printed up and displayed around Osgodby to help prevent dog fouling.

The competition was organised by Osgodby Village Council and Overdale School, along with support from Scarborough Borough Council.

Phil King, chairman of the village council, said: “We have a terrific working partnership with the school and it’s great to get young people involved.

“People definitely react more to children’s posters than signs threatening fines.”

The girls, aged five to seven, were presented with WH Smith vouchers and coloured pens, along with T-shirts printed up with their poster design.

They were then given a tour of the council chamber and mayor’s parlour by deputy mayor Cllr John Blackburn. The youngsters also met senior dog warden Graham Hubberd.

Copies of the posters have already been printed and will be put up this weekend.
