BE your own Santa and spread the festive cheer by giving presents to the needy this Christmas.

Shoppers in Scarborough are asked to come forward with gift donations as part of the Give Big This Christmas campaign.

The Giving Tree has launched at the Brunswick Shopping Centre in association with the Evening News and Scarborough Lions, where people can leave presents until December 4.

These will then be distributed by the Lions to needing people in the area, in particular children and the elderly, in time for Christmas.

Presents are accepted for any age group and must be new and unwrapped.

Collections are also being taken at the Evening News office in Aberdeen Walk.

Members of the lions will be at the Brunswick today and tomorrow from 11am-3pm to talk to people about the campaign.

They are also encouraging people to sign up to a free prize draw to win a £200 Christmas Shopping Spree at the Brunswick. The shopping centre will donate 20p to the Lions for every competition entry received.
