BLOOD donors are being urged to come forward at sessions being held in Scarborough next week.
They will take place on Tuesday at Westborough Methodist Church from 2pm to 4pm, and from 5pm to 7pm.
Sessions will also be held at the same venue on Tuesday November 22.
Anyone aged between 17-65, weighing more than 50kg (7st 12lb) and in general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor.
Darren Bowen, from NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “It takes just one hour to give blood and that one donation can help to save or improve up to three lives.”
Each blood donation can be split into component parts, so just one unit of donated blood can be used to help save the lives of three people.
Blood is not just used in accident and emergency situations, but to treat a range of illnesses like cancer, anaemia and is also given to premature babies.
