Glennon weighs up Boro stay

The former Huddersfield Town and Carlisle stopper had stepped into retirement after leaving Halifax Town, but Boro boss Steve Kittrick managed to coax his gloves back out of the cupboard for las Saturday's 2-1 win against Kendal.

He said: "Steve rang me the other day after I left Halifax and retired. I've been playing for 21 years now and you get itchy feet.

"My wife's from Hull, so I was just down the road. He didn't even get his sentence out and I just said go on then, I'll come and play.

"We'll see what happens now. I enjoyed it and they are a good set of lads.

"The manager is a nice fellow as well, I've known him for years. He's never managed a team that has beaten me so I don't even know why he likes me anymore."

Glennon made two excellent stops on his debut and was only denied a clean-sheet by a last-gasp Kendal goal.

He added: "The lads worked very hard on a very difficult pitch. The ref was having a little moan about it, but I think it was playable.

"We tried to play some football, which we did and we scored two good goals. It was nice to get the win, but the clean-sheet would have been good.

"We defended very well, with lots of last-ditch tackles and headers. I made a couple of saves, but that is what I'm there for.

"You have to try and keep yourself in the game, that comes with experience."
