VICTORIAN toys, parlour games and greetings cards proved a hit with youngsters at Scarborough Art Gallery’s period Christmas party.
The event gave five to 11 year olds the chance to step back in time and experience a taste of Christmas through the eyes of a Victorian child.
The youngsters played with original pieces from the gallery’s collection, including marbles, yo-yos and tiddly winks.
They made traditional Victorian Christmas cards and played parlour games, including charades.
The session concluded with a chance to make Christmas crackers.
Learning assistant Zoe Spring said: “They enjoyed it and I think they got a lot out of comparing newer toys with the older ones.
“Many of the children already had a good understanding of the Victorian era having studied it at school.
“A lot of them are regulars at our Saturday Art Clubs and love doing creative activities.”
