A SCARBOROUGH sports club has been putting a real swing into fundraising efforts, much to the delight of a local charity.

Over the course of the year members from Scarborough North Cliff Golf Club members have enthusiastically driven up support for Saint Catherine’s Hospice after club captain Alan Richardson named it as his chosen charity.

Through competitions, fun events and activities, members clubbed together to raise an ace amount of over £1,000.

Alan Richardson said: “Members have taken part in various fun golfing competitions and really got behind all our social events and I am delighted that the club has been able to raise the wonderful sum of £1310.47 for the hospice.”

It was Alan’s final duty as captain, to hand over the cheque to hospice fundraisers, Louise Gravestock and Jane Richardson.

Mrs Richardson added: “Our grateful thanks go to everyone at North Cliff Golf Club for their generous donation, which will help to fund the range of specialist nursing care we provide to our patients and their families.”
