A CHARITY golf event at North Cliff Golf Club raised an impressive £5,300 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The event was declared a huge success with over 150 golfers taking part and one lucky player even achieving a hole in one to scoop a fantastic £3,000 prize.

Generous support was given by local businesses who sponsored various elements of the day to ensure that all of the costs in staging the event were funded.

This enables every penny raised to be used in the local area to provide home nursing care for terminally ill patients.

Event organiser and Scarborough fundraising group member, Mary Woodall, said: “A huge congratulations to the winning teams and our grateful thanks go to everyone who supported the Golf Day.”

The winning teams were: men’s – C. Duck, W. Hardy, B. Witty and C. Jackson and ladies – M. Collier, D. Holmes, M. Davison and P. Adamson. The hole in one was won by John Edmond.
