THE Arts Workshops were full to overflowing when writer Jo Reed launched her first poetry book Stone Venus.
The capacity audience heard a selection of the accessible, humorous and often witty poems in this collection. They deal with experiences we can all relate to. Many women will recognise the predatory male described in Satyr.
The poem Shaken Not Stirred looks at the same dating game from an older and wiser perspective.
Jo’s vivid and moving portraits in Life Class and Piccadilly Circus are fine descriptions of people down on their luck but dreaming of better things. The book, named after a stone Jo found while beachcombing, is full of the everyday things in life.
Published by Valley Press, it is available via its website and from major booksellers.
