STAFF at the Scarborough Evening News were dressed to impress for Wear a Hat Day in aid of Ellie’s Fund.
The fundraiser was organised by reporter Susan Stephenson (pictured third from right) who wanted to get involved after writing stories to publicise the event.
People were asked to wear a hat to work yesterday and donate at least £1 to Ellie’s Fund.
The charity was set up in memory of Scarborough teenager Ellie Othick-Bowmaker, who died last year after battling two brain tumours.
Money raised from similar events across Scarborough and the rest of the country will go towards brain tumour research.
Susan said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part and donated to the fund. I’d also like to thank all my hat-dodging colleagues who still gave a donation!
“The newsroom and advertising department were awash with various types of hats and people really got into the spirit.
“We even found that two of our sports reporters had been replaced by Darth Vader and Optimus Prime, which put a smile on everyone’s face.”
Money is still being collected in and will be passed on to Ellie’s mum, Heather Othick.
