GET on your dancing shoes and have a ball at the Spa this summer.
Fundraisers at St Catherine’s Hospice skipped along to launch their summer ball which aims to celebrate all things ‘seaside’.
The charity event takes place on the evening of Saturday June 11 at Scarborough Spa in South Bay,
Fundraiser Jane Richardson said: “Each year we give the ball a popular theme and this year it will be The Beach Ball.
“We hope to welcome over 500 ball-goers, who will be greeted with a drinks reception in the Suncourt, followed by a gala dinner in the Ocean Room and dancing to the hugely popular Bogus Brothers with P&L Sound and Light supporting, making it a full extravaganza evening.”
Deep Sea Electronics of Hunmanby, Scarborough-based Adverset media solutions and Bluefin insurance services are sponsoring the event, and this year Bridlington chartered accountants Lloyd Dowson has also jumped on board.
The Bridlington firm had a table at last year’s ball and were so impressed with the evening and the work the hospice does, it decided to become a sponsor of its next ball.
The hospice’s director of funding development, David Marshall, said he was delighted to have a new Bridlington-based sponsor.
“Bridington and the East Riding is a very important area for Saint Catherine’s. We care for a lot of people in the area and know that people very much regard us as their hospice,” he said. “We have tremendous support in the area, including great local support groups and a very popular shop in Cross Street, which makes a valuable contribution to hospice fundraising.
“I am really pleased that Lloyd Dowson has decided to join Deep Sea Electronics of Hunmanby amongst the main ball sponsors and hope they enjoy being part of what is traditionally a very prestigious and successful event.
“The ball is a very important event for Saint Catherine’s and helps us raise vital funds towards providing care for people across the entire 1,600 square mile area that we cover.
“It’s success is greatly helped by the fantastic support we receive from businesses in the area and especially the sponsors.”
The ball on June 11 will begin with a drinks reception in Scarborough Spa’s Sun Court from 7.30pm to 8pm.
That is followed by a gala dinner in the Ocean Room and dancing to the popular Bogus Brothers.
Tickets for the ball are still available for £60 with more information available from the fundraising team on 01723 378406.
