A team taking part in the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride challenge, which saw Filey as the final destination, has raised more than £8,000 for charity.

The team at Insurance specialists Caravan Guard, incorporating Leisuredays, was delighted with its pedal-powered fundraising feat.

An eight-strong team of riders took on the gruelling ride, cycling 70 miles from West Yorkshire to Filey.

With the help of caravan industry businesses, colleagues, friends and family, the team raised a creditable £8,141 this year.

Over its history the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride has raised £2.6 million for Yorkshire charities including Epilepsy Research UK, Candlelighters Trust, Martin House Children’s Hospice and St John Ambulance.

Caravan Guard and Leisuredays founder Peter Wilby, who saddled up for his 23rd ride this year, thanked everyone who got behind the team.

He said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have raised thousands of pounds once again with our efforts.

“I’d like to personally thank all our friends at dealerships, parks and elsewhere in the caravan industry for their continued generous support year after year.”
