Five people are enjoying healthier lives after losing eight stone and 77 inches collectively as part of campaign to get the Yorkshire Coast Fit.
The campaign is being run by Body Complete in partnership with Scarborough Council, Sainsbury’s and the Feversham Arms Hotel, in Helmsley, to encourage people in the area to get fit and lose those extra pounds.
As part of the initiative a competition was held to find the “Fab Five” who would be given a three month intense programme of training and nutrition support.
More than 100 people entered, but only five could be selected by judges Chris Stringer and Katy Rawnsley of Body Complete, local GP and cardiologist Jane Hamp and personal coach Christine McGarvey.
The winners were Steve Barrett, Karen Eyres, Carrie Sizer, Harry Hansell and Christina Calder, who have now completed their programme.
After two bootcamp session a week, a weekly personal training session, and monthly fitness tests the team have lost a combined 36 per cent of their body fat, as well as 77 inches and eight stone of fat. Also they have gained 1.6 stone of muscle.
Mr Stringer, who set up Body Complete in January this year, said: “We feel very passionately about making a difference and in particular combating the local trends.”
