STAFF at Scarborough Hospital are helping to promote national Patient Safety Week.

The awareness-raising initiative is aimed at promoting and improving patient safety in hospitals.

The trust has recently reviewed its approach to improving patient safety with the launch of a Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Strategy.

Nicki McNaney, director of nursing, said: “We have launched a new programme of work to address key patient safety and quality improvement priorities.

“This strategy aims to make safer care the top priority for the organisation where everyone puts quality first and makes the quality of care everyone’s concern.”

Helen Noble, Clinical Governance and Patient Safety Manager, added: “Patients and staff can be assured that patient safety remains our top priority not just this week, but every week.”

“Our aim is for patient safety to be at the forefront of our staff’s mind every day.” Posters are being displayed throughout the hospital.
