A SCARBOROUGH woman is starting the New Year with a new lease of life – and a new job – after losing four and a half stone.

Pippa Crawford, of Barmoor Close, Scalby, lost the weight with Slimming World and will be starting her own meeting as a leader tonight.

In 16 months Pippa has gone from 14 stone to 9st 7lb by eating healthily and exercising.

She is now hoping she can help others do the same at her meetings, which will take place on Thursday nights at Scalby Methodist Church.

Pippa said: “I’m very positive about getting started. It’s something completely new for me, so there’s a few nerves, but I feel like I’ve done a lot of the hard work already.”

The 48-year-old underwent her own transformation as a member of Amanda Taylor’s group in St John’s Road.

Pippa explained: “With every half stone that came off I felt like a new person. I was feeling better and better every month.”

Now she says her focus is “fitness, fashion and food” and she is enjoying exercise more than ever before.

Pippa said: “I love the activity side of it. I’ve been doing zumba, dance and boxercise.

“A walk around the park was hard before!”

Pippa says that she feels her new role is an important one, as the latest Government figures show that 60 per cent of the UK’s population are now overweight or obese.

She explained: “Obesity is becoming such a huge issue across the UK. When I first joined Slimming World as a member, I never dreamed that I would end up helping other people to lose weight, but now I just can’t wait to get started.

“It’s a privilege for me to be able to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me, so that I can give my members the support they need to get to target.”
