REFURBISHMENT work is progressing well on the main reception at Scarborough Hospital.

The area is undergoing a £565,000 revamp which will include a new coffee shop, baby changing facilities and toilets, seating areas and a new reception office.

The coffee shop will be run by the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) and the existing shop will be extended.

Refreshments will also be available, outside of normal trading hours, from vending machines.

The work is expected to be complete by the end of January and staff, visitors and patients are asked for their understanding whilst this work takes place.

People are currently being directed to the West Wing entrance, which has been clearly signposted.

Bus stops and taxi drop-off points have also been temporarily relocated.

The refurbishment has been made possible thanks to a £200,000 donation from WRVS and £250,000 of funding from Scarborough health trust’s charitable funds.
