A charity which provides a wide range of support for people affected by brain injuries hosted a widely-praised charity event at Scarborough Hospital this month.
An information stand at the hospital gave volunteers from Headway Yorkshire East Coast an opportunity to promote greater understanding of the issues associated with brain injuries.
The branch’s chairman, Mark Hollinghurst, said: “Our thanks go to Scarborough Hospital. This was a great opportunity to reach out to the public and to meet people with experience of acquired brain injury. A paramedic who approached our stand between duties, who had personal experience of brain injury from carbon monoxide poisoning, said ‘there’s life after brain injury – it’s like being born again’. That really summed up the day.”
