National Trust Rangers on the North Yorkshire coast are offering free guided walks with a choice of themes from this month.
Hayburn Wyke Wander takes place today, May 28, July 29 and September 3, daily from 1pm to 3pm.
This is an invitation to take a closer look at this atmospheric wooded valley on the sea’s edge. Find out how the National Trust looks after the trees, plants, wildlife and landscape that make up the special character of Hayburn Wyke. Meet at the Hayburn Wyke Inn car park.
Lovers of local history can enjoy a gentle walk entitled The Town That Never Was on February 24, April 30, June 30 and August 13 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Taking in Ravenscar and the surrounding countryside, explore the fascinating story of Victorian entrepreneurs’ plans to create a coastal resort to rival Scarborough. Nearby, the remains World War Two radar station reveal Ravenscar’s role in defending Britain. Meet at Ravenscar Visitor Centre. Both walks are free of charge
