MADONNA, Lady Gaga, Elton John and a host of other popular entertainers could be making an appearance in Scarborough – but they are not the latest acts booked for the Open Air Theatre.

Organisers of this year’s Stars In Their Eyes competition, based on the popular TV show of the same name which ran until 2006, are hoping to repeat the success of last year’s contest and raise lots of cash for St Catherine’s Hospice.

The event is due to take place at Scarborough Rugby Club on Saturday March 31.

Organiser Lucy Fettes said: “We have some great acts lined up and the evening promises to be great entertainment and lots of fun – last year was a complete sell-out.”

The competition is a soundalike contest but entrants are encouraged to dress up so they look as much like the performer they are emulating as they can.

Tickets are available from the main reception of the hospice in Throxenby Lane or the rugby club on match days. For further information send an email to lefettes@hotmail.com or contact (01723) 351421.
