STAFF from Scarborough Hospital have joined forces with a local publican to organise a “giant coffee morning” in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support tomorrow.
Elaine Hayward, service redesign manager at Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust, has recently relocated with her family to Ebberston.
She approached Dean Hawden, landlord of The Grapes, with a view to organising an event.
Elaine said: “I have recently moved to the village and decided a coffee morning was not only a great way to meet my new neighbours but to give something back to the local community.
“I have also enlisted the support of my colleague, Carol Popplestone, Macmillan urology nurse specialist, who helped organise the hospital’s last giant coffee morning.”
Mr Hawden said: “Not only is it in aid of a good cause, but it will be a great chance for the community to get together for a cuppa and a slice of cake.”
The event will take place at The Grapes tomorrow from 10am until 1pm.
There will be a tombola, raffle and a chance to peg a message on a tree in memory of a loved one.
The tree has been kindly donated by RV Roger Ltd Nursery and Plant Centre in Pickering.
All proceeds will go to Macmillan.
