FUN and fundraising were on the cards at Scarborough Hospital’s annual winter ball at the Spa Complex Ocean Room.
The glitzy event attracted nearly 200 people who enjoyed a three-course dinner, music, dancing and a performance by illusionists Amethyst, who gave their time free of charge.
The event also featured a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.
Prizes were also given out to teams who had taken part in the trust’s “Wash Factor” contest to compose a song about hand hygiene, with the winners named as Maggie and the Mopheads.
Medical secretaries’ manager Julia Haddington, who has organised the ball for the past 12 years, thanked everyone for their support in raising £18,000 for the hospital during that time.
She handed over the reins to stoma care secretary Helen King who will organise next year’s event.
All the money raised from this year’s ball will go towards a major revamp of the children’s ward.
