THREE new businesses in Scarborough will win thousands of pounds worth of free advertising thanks to a campaign supported by the Evening News.

The paper is now looking for entries for the scheme, which is part of a nationwide campaign called Local Business Accelerators.

Regional newspapers across the country are taking part in a bid to boost UK business, with £15 million worth of free advertising available nationally.

In Scarborough the Evening News will be offering advertising to three new businesses, which have been going between 12 months and three years, and can demonstrate growth potential.

Whether businesses have developed a new idea or capitalised on new markets, or any new business looking to create new jobs and build pride in the community, can enter this great initiative.

Entries will be whittled down to three lucky businesses by a panel of judges made up of Simon Bull, who has spent 20 years building Castle Group in the health, safety and environmental sector, Jo Thompson, managing director of Spectrum Cleaning Solutions, and Ed Asquith, editorial director of Yorkshire Regional Newspapers.

The initiative is backed by Dragons’ Den TV judge Deborah Meaden, and is being spearheaded by the voice of local media, the Newspaper Society.

One lucky business picked from the hundreds of regional winners will get individual mentoring sessions from Deborah, who will become a consultant and mentor to the business for one year.

All businesses wishing to enter have to log on to www.accelerateme.co.uk which takes them directly to the presentation by Deborah Meaden.

On the right hand side on the page there is a list of icons, they will click ‘apply now’ which takes them to the application form to complete.

This is the only way to apply.
