In fine voice at event

HACKNESS Ladies Choir is on song for a concert on Saturday.

The singers are presenting a concert of song, sketches, poems and readings at the village hall from 7.30pm. Pianist Frank James will be accompanying them as well as performing solo pieces.

The singers - aged from 14 to 88 - will be peforming pieces from opera as well as Broadway shows. The musical director is Ralph Earwicker.

Cash raised will go to local charities.

“We make money throughout the year and then present it to a local cause,” said Jean Guyler, one of its members.

The choir, which has been going for 25 years, meets each Tuesday at Hackness Village Hall from 7.30pm.

“We’re a friebdly choir,” said Mrs Guyler, ”and everyone is welcome to come along.

She has been singing with the choir for three years and will perform a solo at Saturday’s concert.
