Scarborough’s veteran Iron Man has just completed another gruelling challenge over a 10 mile course at Catterick Garrison.
John Hunter, a 48-year-old builder who is well-known for his feats of endurance, took part in the Para 10 P Company Challenge and was placed 11th out of almost 800 entrants.
The cross country route is based on the Paratroopers Company Selection test where cut off time is 1hr 50mins.
Mr Hunter said his time was 1hr 32mins and he faced some tough competition.
He said: “It was a better position even though I was a minute or two down on last time. The heat was a deciding factor because it was really warm.
“The lad who won it was a Royal Marine and there were a lot of military personnel. I felt alright – I was surprised but pleased.
“There were three veterans in front of me but I don’t know how old they were. It’s a tough 10 miles.”
He added that his next event would be the Glencoe Mountain Marathon, in about three weeks, which is billed as Britain’s toughest marathon.
