A POPULAR Scarborough school dinner lady has called time on her career after more than 20 years in the role.

Janet Dobson, 67, was a familiar face to hundreds of youngsters at Braeburn Junior School during a 22-year career.

Mrs Dobson, of Eastfield, originally started working in the adjoining Infants and Nursery School before moving on to the Junior section.

During her time at the school Mrs Dobson was responsible for looking after youngsters throughout the lunchtime period and was given a bouquet of flowers from current pupils to thank her for all of her hard work.

She said her time at the school had been great and praised the youngsters for making it so much fun.

She said: “I really enjoyed my time at the school and the children were really good too.

“They were always a nice bunch to work with.

“There hasn’t been much change in what I’ve done over the years, we have had different staff come and go but the job has mainly stayed the same.”

However, despite her retirement, she revealed she has no plans to slow down just yet.

She added: “I’ll be just as busy even though I’ll be trying to take it a bit easier.

“I’ll be doing a bit of gardening to try and get it looking like it did 10 years ago.”
