A FAMILIAR face to many at Scarborough health trust has retired after 38 years’ service.
John Dunn, deputy human resources director, was bid farewell by colleagues with a presentation at work, followed by a party at North Cliff Golf Club.
Mr Dunn started his hospital career in the accounts section, moving on to general administration work and finally taking up a position in the human resources department in 1986.
He said: “I’ve seen many changes over the years and I’ve really enjoyed it.
“I’ve worked with so many great colleagues. There has always been such a great team effort, with people putting their heart and soul into the trust.
“I’ll really miss everybody.”
Mr Dunn is taking early retirement, aged 56, and says he has enjoyed working in HR and feels he has achieved a lot, including the recruitment of some top consultants.
He is now looking forward to spending some time abroad and has trips planned to Egypt and Spain.
Mr Dunn thanked his colleagues for all their kind words and best wishes, and also for all the cards and gifts he received.
He said: “A huge thank you to everybody and I hope everything goes well for them in the future.”
Mike Proctor, the trust’s chief executive, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank John for all his work and commitment over the years and am sure that colleagues past and present will join me in wishing him all the best for his retirement.”
