Girls, don’t miss out on the opportunity to become Scarborough’s next female ambassador and to earn a place in the Miss England final.
There are just a few weeks left to enter the glitzy Miss Scarborough and District 2013 competition and join in the running with other hopefuls from across the region.
Organiser Diane Yalezo, owner of Desire prom dress shop in Filey, has said there is no need for local girls to be shy about entering.
Miss Scarborough contestants will take part in a glamorous final in May, with the winner gaining automatic entry in the prestigious Miss England final in Torquay on June 15.
The competition is open to girls with a YO postcode, who must be unmarried and have no children, and be aged 16-24, providing the youngest entrants are 17 as of June 14, 2013.
Mrs Yalezo said: “Come on local girls, we know there are still lots more out there who can make their hometown of Scarborough proud.
“Every year girls return to take part because they have so much fun and they gain confidence through the competition.
“So if you think you have what it takes, or mums, grans, boyfriends and friends, if you know someone who does, don’t be shy and enter today!”
This year’s extravaganza has already attracted Amelia Stone, Stacey Higgins and Grace Fergus, from Scarborough, as well as Lisette Vincent-Jones of Whitby, Jade Brown of Bridlington, Chantel Craggs of Norton, Beth Carpenter of Pickering, and Amy Page, Rebecca Nichol, Mary Marshall, Sarah Moore and Kimberley West, all of York.
Preparations are now taking shape for the Scarborough showcase, due to be held in May.
Mrs Yalezo added: “We’ve got an exciting competition lined up, including the return of the popular Miss Eco round.
“The girls have to make or customise their own dress. We’ve seen some fabulous designs in the past, made from newspapers, love hearts, vinyl records and even bin bags.
“The winner of this round gets fast-tracked to the final 10, so we’re looking forward to seeing this year’s creations.”
All applicants will be invited to an audition in mid-April, those successful will go on to the regional final.
The new Miss Scarborough 2013 will gain automatic entry to the Miss England final and will also go on to represent the region at various functions throughout the year.
