Lady captain gives her support for homeless

A SCARBOROUGH charity which helps the homeless has benefited from a donation from the lady captain of North Cliff Golf Club.

Jenny Newman presented Judith Pullen, of Scarborough Homeless Support Services (SHSS), with a cheque for £1,150 – on top of a donation of £200 from a well-known local business.

She said she chose it as her charity for her year in office and fellow club members he Ladies of North Cliff have also been donating items of food, toiletries, warm coats and bedding throughout the year.

Mrs Newman said with the current the recession more people than ever were in danger of losing their homes. She said: “Thank goodness for the staff and volunteers delivering services from their Cross Street offices.”
