Another landslip has happened in Scarborough’s South Bay near the Clock Cafe.

A huge crack has appeared in the path above the cafe and to the right, near a group of four beach chalets.

The landslip is the latest in a series of similar problems in the area.

Just weeks ago, a path has to be cordoned off near the old South Bay pool after part of the cliff gave way.

A Scarborough Borough Council spokesperson said: “We are making preparations to carry out some work to remove earth at the top of the slip, which will help to relieve some of the pressure on the slope and allow us to carry out further investigations to help inform what subsequent action we need to take.

“We have put up barriers to cordon off the area and we are regularly monitoring the slope for any signs of further movement.

“We advise members of the public to choose an alternative route when walking in the area.”
