He said: “I have some of the best memories of my life here. I remember with lots of nostalgia the dynamic lessons, the cosy atmosphere, my lovely host family (the Mannings – I still stay with them whenever I visit), my classmates from different countries.

“I spent as many as eight summers as a student in Scarborough. I just loved the place, I had many friends there and I felt my English improved
remarkably.”

Now he has returned for the second time with students from the Donatelli, a school in Milan where he now teaches English and German.

Last year, 48 pupils and staff joined him on the journey to Scarborough. But to celebrate the 30th birthday, 60 students and staff, including the headteacher, made the journey to Anglolang and stayed from March 9 to March 16.

Mr Salvatori said: “They enjoy experiencing a new lifestyle and a culture they have been studying for many years. They enjoy putting into practice all they have learnt at school, they love visiting new places and experiencing a new school environment different from their own.”

The school is delighted to have celebrated 30 years since first opening in 1986.

Over the decades, the language academy has hosted many nationalities, running courses from intensive General English through to academic, executive, teacher training, school group and vacation programmes.
