Learning about life on the beat

Staff and children at Buckets and Spades Nursery had a visit from PC Lee Ridsdale who spoke to the children about road safety and his job as a policeman.

The talk, given to the three and four year olds, covered road safety basics such as always crossing the road with an adult, waiting for the green man and listening out for traffic.

Julie Armstrong, the preschool organiser, said: “The children absolutely loved it. They’ve all been talking about it this afternoon and the ones that went home for lunch have been discussing it with their parents.”

The children also got to explore the police van in small groups, sitting in the back, watching the flashing lights and learning about all the different buttons. 132134.
