EXTRA funds have splashed in to the British Heart Foundation’s money pot thanks to a sponsored swim by a Scarborough teacher.

Dave Pearson, 59, took part in the British Gas Great Swim Series, competing in the Great East Swim at Alton Water Reservoir near Ipswich.

He did the event to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, and has already collected more than £210 in sponsorship.

Mr Pearson said: “I did the same event last year, when I swam for the Parkinson’s Society.

“I did both swims in memory of my parents.

“My dad died from a heart attack and my mother from Parkinsons.

“As well as being a supply teacher I am also a lifeguard at Bridlington Leisure World.

“I enjoyed the swim and was delighted to have raised so much money. Thank you to everyone who sponsored me.”
